Ahead of the May 1st Met Gala, I put together this look at the Costume Institute exhibition the Met Gala was celebrating: Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, which ran from May 5 through July 15 at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. Lagerfeld was a beloved figure in the fashion industry, and combined with Chanel's sponsorship of both the exhibition and gala, and the result was a spectacular look at a career that spanned six decades. This preview of both the exhibition and gala for The Hollywood Reporter explored both the industry's enthusiasm for honoring Lagerfeld, as well as interviews with some of the leading vintage dealers in the U.S., who discussed how Met Gala guests were clamoring for vintage Lagerfeld to wear to the event.
