For the 12/6/17 issue of The Hollywood Reporter, I put together a group of watches that are futuristic in their look and innovative in their method of telling time. The criteria for inclusion was simple: None of the pieces featured could include an hour or minute hand. Shot by New York-based photographer Travis Rathbone, these pieces — by Urwerk, Harry Winston, Christophe Claret, and Hublot — might feel perplexing upon first look, but once you figure out how each works, they become these irresistible moments on your wrist, great conversation starters that also prove it’s possible to retrain our minds in something as ingrained as how to tell time.
