Awards season wrapped in 2024 with the March 10 Academy Awards, but red-carpet reporters were still busy summing up the best looks (and the head-scratchers) of Hollywood's biggest night. For me that included four pages in the March 14, 2024 issue of the magazine, which had to be turned around in less than 24 hours to make the newsstand date, just four days after the ceremony.
This was also a big awards season for me, as for 2024 we also added the Red Carpet Power Rankings, an idea I conceptualized and took to data firm Launchmetrics, who became an official partner in our plan to highlight the monetary value of the highest-performing brands seen on red carpets throughout the awards season. It was a concept readers and brands alike loved, as it allowed us to use a verifiable metric to quantify brands seen on red carpets for the first time. That was especially thrilling for Oscar night, to witness the impact of Ryan Gosling's Gucci to Zendaya's stunning Giorgio Armani Privé gown and much more.
