Covering watches for several years has instilled me with a moviegoing habit I now can’t break: When I see a watch in a film, I become riveted in figuring out both the model and brand. Combine that with the increased placement of status watches in films, and it seemed like an ideal Pret-a-Reporter story once this year’s Oscar nominations were announced. From Winston Churchill’s iconic Breguet pocket watch for The Darkest Hour to the Piaget worn by Jessica Chastain (the jeweler’s brand ambassador) in Molly’s Game,watches are indeed increasing their profile on the big screen.
