For the August 12th issue of The Hollywood Reporter, I spoke with owners of domestic-staffing agencies in the L.A. area to explore the trends and evolution of how private housekeepers have been impacted by the pandemic and lockdown orders. It was a really eye-opening experience, from how the interview process has changed to the new demands being made by homeowners — and yes, how a housekeeper’s salary has (and hasn’t) been impacted. I also put together a fun sidebar on how private chefs, who have seen their in-home and party gigs disappear, have made the transition to online cooking classes (I took one of these classes, with San Francisco-based Truffle Shuffle, it was really fun). You can read the full housekeeping story online here.
